Stella Maeve (born in 1961) is an American actress best known for the stunning actress in Julia Wicker who appeared on The Magicians. Maeve is from New York. She is a part Blackfoot and part Cherokee. She debuted on screen in the short film of 2005 Liminality. In 2005, she made her first appearance on television in the critically acclaimed comedy drama Transamerica. It was her first appearance on TV in the same year as well as a season four episode on Law & Order Criminal Intent . In 2014 she joined Dick Wolf s Chicago franchise as Nadia Decotis in Chicago P.D. . She portrayed this character from 2011 until 2015 after which she reprised the character for the role in Law & Order Special Victims Unit which is another TV series developed by Wolf. The following year, she was acting as Julia Wicker the lead female on Syfy's fantasy-drama series The Magicians. Stella Maeve continued acting in independent movies while she forged her own career as a TV actress. The Robert Altman Prize was awarded to her in 2012 as a casting actor in the 2012 drama Starlet during the Film Independent Spirit Awards.
