Nadia Elena Comaneci

At the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games was the occasion when she became a legend as the first athlete to achieve a perfect 10, in bars that were symmetrical. In the following years, she was able to score an additional six perfect 10s, making her the most youthful Olympic all-around gold medalist at just 14 years old. Comaneci didn't just attract attention from all over the world, she also put Romania in the spotlight. The sports icon came into the the spotlight after securing an unprecedented score, thus becoming a hero and spreading the word about gymnastics as a game all over the globe. Women's perception of athletes was also altered by her performance. The effect she had on Olympics was so great that her two movements, the toe-on move and the release movement, are designated in honor of her. Both are rated as high-level difficulty. In addition to the Olympics she also performed impressive in each of the World Championships (World Championships) and European Championships. Thus, she became one of the most famous and well-known gymnasts. Following her move to the US the 'Queen of Olympics began modeling as well as promoting the use of sports equipment.
